COVID-19 Update

to Jun 30

COVID-19 Update

These are strange times that we are living in recently, and these strange times call for a change in protocol. We wanted to make sure that we made everyone aware, because things are so different, of these changes. To participate in stopping the spread of this virus, you may see our advocates wearing masks and gloves—this is not because we are assuming someone may have something, we just want to make sure we do our part to stop the spread. Individual counseling & classes will look differently right now as well. These meetings may be switched to phone call or online meetings. We are continuing to serve Sequatchie, Grundy, and Warren county to the best of our abilities during this time. We ask that you have patience with us as we navigate this new and unknown time.

We are here for you! Please call our crisis line if you need anything!

Denim Day
Apr

Denim Day

The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, what started as a local campaign to bring awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence has grown into a movement.

So on this day, wear your denim with pride & spread awareness that rape culture ends with us!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we will be posting reminders, facts, and statistics almost everyday on Facebook. So be sure to follow along with us. Also, if you know someone who has suffered from sexual violence in their life, remember to reach out and let them know you are listening. The best thing you can do for a survivor is to let them know you believe them, and then just listen when they are ready to talk!
